The New York State Banking Department is the oldest bank regulatory agency in the nation. Headquartered in New York City, the financial capital of the world, the department oversees the safety and soundness of New York State-chartered banking organizations. It is charged with monitoring the operations of approximately 500 domestic and foreign banking institutions with aggregate assets of more than $1.3 trillion, and approximately 4,000 other financial entities operating within New York State.

In addition to its main office at 1 State Street, Manhattan, the agency also has offices in the state capital in Albany, and in Syracuse, New York.

There has never been a more exciting, dynamic time in the world of banking! The ever-changing face of the modern financial services industry provides regulators with daily challenges that are unprecedented in the history of bank regulation. Consider joining us in meeting those challenges as an employee of the New York State Banking Department.
